A city as vibrant as Atlanta always has a different event coming up. Photo by Joey Kyber.

Atlanta Dogwood Festival: April 8–10, 2022

Even Martha Stewart-types would call Atlanta’s Dogwood Festival — held for 86 years and counting — a “good thing.” Artists of every sort tote their best works to the juried fine arts market held alfresco in 185-acre Piedmont Park annually. Last year, museum-worthy pieces ranged from jewelry by Georgia metalsmith
Obayana Ajanaku
to clay vases by Wake Forest, North Carolina’s
Luis Enrique Gutierrez
. Hangry? You can nosh on crab cakes, gyros, and more while listening to live performances by, say, ‘Menopausal Blondie.’

Atlanta Film Festival: April 21–May 1, 2022

Sure, Sundance and Cannes get all the fanfare. But the Atlanta Film Festival is just as megawatt. And no wonder. As an Academy Award–qualifying event, it gets some 9,300 submissions from across the globe every year. But we love that you can catch films in your own car at their two drive-in locations as well as on the big screen at
The Plaza Theatre
, just a short drive from
Sentral West Midtown at Star Metals

SXSW 2022: March 11–20, 2022

Austin’s jewel in the crown is unequivocally this festival, where the worlds of tech, cinema, music, education, and culture converge (where else can you spot the launch of the next Twitter, which touts this festival as one reason for its success?). If last year’s lineup was any indication of where 2022’s SXSW is headed, book your trip yesterday; boldfaced panelists and events included Demi Lovato, Willie Nelson, Queen Latifa and LL Cool J, Matthew McConaughey, Olivia Munn…should we get a dustpan and sweep up some of these names? They’re only the beginning. In 2022, expect a comedy festival, film and music fest, conference, and so much more — specific lineups TBD.

Austin City Limits: October 7–9 & 14–16, 2022

Those ‘Keep Austin Weird’ bumper stickers you see all over town zoom to Zilker Park (less than 20 minutes away from
Sentral East Austin 1614
) each fall for this six-day fest, where some 140 bands grace the stage over two autumnal weekends. And they’re big names: the 2021 lineup included Billie Eilish, Erykah Badu, George Strait, Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly, Duran Duran…and so many more. (When you’re done bebopping around, swimming in the spring-fed Barton Springs Municipal Pool is a must).

F1 Grand Prix: October 20-23

Car obsessives have revved their engines for Formula One races since they began in 1950. (Proof of its popularity:
Brad Pitt
is reportedly at work on an F1 film, after the success of "Ford v Ferrari"). You can catch Formula 1 races everywhere from Saudi Arabia to Australia, or right here in Austin at the Circuit of the Americas.

Sentral Michigan Avenue is just steps away from where Lollapalooza is held every year. Photo by Ashley Osborn courtesy of Lollapalooza.

Lollapalooza: July 28–31, 2022

While others need to fly across the country (or globe) to reach Lollapalooza, if you’re living at
Sentral Michigan Avenue
, you can simply take a short walk across the street to Grant Park, where the festival is held each year. The Beaux Arts — era, 319-acre park is known for its highbrow offerings (such as the Art Institute of Chicago), but transforms every summer to hold Lollapalooza, the popular annual music fest featuring more than 170 bands from across the globe. Gracing their eight stages in 2021? Miley Cyrus, Limp Bizkit, Modest Mouse, Band of Horses, the Foo Fighters, Playboi Carti…a good omen for the 2022 lineup to come.

Ribfest Chicago: Summer (dates TBD), 2022

If you’re hankering for truly standout, finger-licking-good BBQ, Ribfest is your event. For 22 years running, vendors have served up some 50,000 pounds (per year!) of perfect pork during the three day street fest. Don’t miss the only rib-eating contest in the Midwest, and remember to BYO moist towelettes.

Pitchfork Music Festival: September, 2022 (dates TBD)

This annual summer music fest — held in 13.77-acre Union Park — is known for its record and craft fair, in addition to alt and indie rock galore. Lineup and dates are TBD for 2022, but last year's headliners included Animal Collective, Kim Gordon,  Erykah Badu, and Thundercat.

Denver offers more than incredible outdoor excursions, it’s also home to annual events and festivals. Photo by Mercedes Mehling.

Denver PrideFest: June 25–26, 2022

Proof Coloradans have a lot of well-deserved pride: some 525,000 people attended Denver’s PrideFest in 2019, marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. We’ve got a hunch more than half a million folks of all kinds will be back to celebrate again in 2022. After all, this fest works hard (with the Pride 5K) but it plays even harder (expect 30 food and beverage vendors and a 14-block-long parade with rainbow floats galore).

Great American Beer Fest: October 6–8, 2022

Colorado has been known for two things — mountains and breweries — ever since the Gold Rush. (You can see some of our favorites — all accessible from
Sentral Union Station
— in our
neighborhood guide to LoDo
.) The latter gets toasted full-throttle each year at the Great American Beer Fest, reportedly the largest in the nation with some 60,000 thirsty attendees annually. You could also call it the Olympics of Brewskis, with gold, silver, and bronze awards doled out to breweries ranging from Portland, Oregon’s Old Town Brewing to Staunton, Virginia’s Skipping Rock Beer Co. by a panel of pro judges. Cheers!

Of course there’s always something going on in Los Angeles, but this year some big events, like the Super Bowl, stand out. Photo by Dave Adamson.

NFL Super Bowl LVI: February 13, 2022

Expect more than 70,000 people to descend on Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium in February for the 56th annual Super Bowl (which teams? Still TBD as of press time). Opened in 2020 and constructed to the tune of $6 billion, the new stadium itself is sure to wow as much as the players…just ask Coldplay and Kenny Chesney, who are also set to play here in 2022. Couldn’t get tickets? Fret not. There are plenty of Super Bowl parties happening you can still pick up tickets to if you’re fully vaxxed, such as the
Babes and Ballers
charity event, where Lil Jon will be DJ’ing.

Los Angeles Times Festival of Books: April 23–24, 2022

Bibliophiles have beelined to Lalaland for decades to attend this mecca for readers and writers held on the cinematic USC Campus. And why not? It’s your chance to meet some 500 of your favorite authors in the flesh (and it’s conveniently less than four miles away from Sentral
DTLA 732
). Last year’s lineup included novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen, Zooey Deschanel, and podcast legend Guy Raz.

June is music festival month in Nashville, including the CMA Musical Festival and Bonnaroo. Photo by Alive Coverage courtesy of Bonnaroo.

CMA Music Festival, June 9–12, 2022

When in Nashville, riiiight? This annual homage to country music is unmissable, and while the 2022 lineup has yet to be announced, you can bet it's worth schlepping your Lucchese Boots for. The 2019 CMA Music Festival included Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, and so many more.

Bonnaroo, June 16-19, 2022

After two years of canceled dates, Bonnaroo is back in 2022! Just an hour away from Nashville (and the newest Sentral property) on a farm in Manchester, Tennessee, the four-day arts and music festival is like an East Coast Coachella without the Hollywood vibe. This year, The Chicks, J.Cole, Tool, and the incomparable Stevie Nicks are headlining, while other crowd-pleasing — and sometimes surprising — artists like Disclosure, Lord Huron, Tove Lo, and Ludacris are sprinkled throughout the bill. (

Oktoberfest, Dates TBD

Don your dirndl. Nashville's Oktoberfest is among the biggest in the nation, with some 250,000 beer lovers arriving annually to nosh on brats, dance the polka, trot along on a 5K bier run (hey, it's all about balance), and even check out a costumed Dachshund Derby. It's so fun that we can safely call it a 'festessen.'

One of the world’s largest art shows, Art Basel is a must-see event every year in Miami. Photo courtesy of Art Basel.

Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show: February 16–20, 2022

Pack your boat shoes. We can almost guarantee you’ll have a (ahem) yacht of fun at this glitzy event, deemed the largest boat and yacht fest on the planet. While you’re there, you can test all manner of gear in a 40,000 gallon pool and stroll the decks on aptly-named SuperYachts like a member of the Real Housewives.

Ultra Music Festival: March 25–27, 2022

Some of the best DJs on the planet descend on Bayfront Park—adjacent to Biscayne Bay—for this electronic music festival of dubstep, house music, trance, and more (plus: pool parties). On this year's lineup: Adam Beyer, Camelphat, Nina Kraviz, Sasha, and so many more. BYO TikTok.

Art Basel: December 1-4, 2022

Art obsessives jet to Miami every single year for Art Basel, and not just because it's closer than Switzerland. Some of the most exquisite works of art ever made change hands here; last year, a Keith Haring from 1983 sold for $1.75 million, and a Kehinde Wiley for $425,000. Because the entire week is chockablock with events as Art Miami, Design Miami and Untitled saddle up to Art Basel (many of them closer to
Sentral Wynwood
), if you don't find something to love in the Galleries or Conversations programs — where up-and-comers show alongside MoMA-hung artists — you won't be bored.

The Seattle International Film Festival has been running since 1976 and is still going strong. Photo courtesy of SIFF.

Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF): April 14–24, 2022

If you’re the next Spielberg or Joon-ho, get your submissions in now for this longtime film festival — set to host its 48th year in 2022 and famous for bestowing a Golden Space Needle to Trainspotting in 1996. Just want to watch? It’s worth going for the “Secret Festival” within a festival alone, in which you don’t know what you’ll watch…and can’t discuss it after. It’s very, very “The FBI Goes to the Movies.”

Sakura-Con: April 15–17, 2022

Anime-obsessives, take note. Sakura-Con — aka the most lauded anime convention in the Northwest — is back, complete with manga (comics), cosplay chess worthy of “The Queen’s Gambit,” gaming suites, Japanese pop concerts, and a masquerade ball. Did we mention it’s run by the all-volunteer Asia-Northwest Cultural Education Association and open a full 24 hours a day at the Washington Convention Center, about a mile away from both
